Rhosneigr council byelection announced

Considering that today was the day that the Adjudication Panel for Wales met behind closed doors to discuss ex-Anglesey Council Leader Phil Fowlie's case (having refused to postpone the case to allow him to attend personally following his recent heart operation) it probably wasn't the ideal day for Anglesey Council to post the election notice for his replacement as councillor of Rhosneigr:
Notice of Rhosneigr Election1

Nevertheless the by-election will now take place on 18th November. Following all the dramatic changes at Anglesey Council since the last local elections, it will be interesting to see which of the Council groupings will be successful in Rhosneigr. We may also finally get to see the Manifestos of groupings other than just Llais i Fôn...

What would happen if the election was boycotted and no-one stood?

We should also now get together and march on the Kremlin and publicly demand resignations.

If something isn't done now it never will be.

This is little better than dancing in the man's grave.

They have no shame - none at all.

Show your disgust. Boycott the Election.

By Boycotting the Election you would be wasting your vote. People died to get the vote.
Use it wisely, but use it.

From what I have witnessed here today coupled with the appalling lack of decency and respect towards Phil Fowlie, makes me thoroughly ashamed to call myself an Anglesey County Councillor, If nothing else it has epitomised the shear brutal contempt been continually shown by some of the senior officer towards Elected Members.

Further to this the amount of dishonesty and breachs of the council's constitution costing the tax payers of Anglesey thousands per year for the benefit of a few is a scandal.

It's time that all the Elected members stood up to be counted but with a tyrant to contend with, I above all know how difficult it is.

However, I for one can not stand back and allow this to continue and am calling on David Bowles, Clive McGregor and Llyn Ball to resign from office now, before they bring the council into any more disrepute.

County Councillor Barrie Durkin.

All Candidates in the forth coming election should state in their leaflets, if they stand as an Independent, which faction group they will be joining so we can all see their true alliance.

The notice of election put up, be it in very bad taste, say's just that.
Shouldn't it be notification of a BY-ELECTION?

send our thoughts to Phil, we are with him to.

I'm not sure what the problem with this is: Cllr. Fowlie has stated openly that he is standing down, hasn't he? I suppose they were only waiting for the adjudication panel to meet and be over with so that they could bring (now) Mr. Fowlie's councillorship formally to an end.

I can't see anything sinister or wrong about it, really, and I'm quite cynical!

The moment David Bowles And Lynn Ball put their names to the "Terms of Engagement" breaching their Codes of Conduct they made themselves fair game for criticism

Officers must ensure that the individual rights of all Councillors are respected, and all Officers, whether or not they hold political restricted posts, when performing their duties for the Council must NOT act politically nor appear to do so. Officers must follow the policies of the Council and must not allow their own personal or political opinions to interfere with their work.

I agree with Councillor Durkin they should both resign.

YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT COMPLETELY.

He hasn't missed the point at all and no amount of 'shouting' on a blogpost will convince him I don't think. Nor me.

One little councillor has moved on and there is going to be an election to replace him. It's not as if the Queen had died or something. The man resigned.Do you want a period of mourning. The world moves on. Get over it will you.

Oh, have I? So, rather than SHOUT, could you just do the honourable thing and answer the question: what is wrong in the Council waiting for the end of a tribunal for a man who has, due to health reasons, already announced his standing down some time ago, and the Council are now announcing an election?

I think you'll find the Council - any Council - has strict legal conditions it must meet when dealing with elections, and I rather doubt there is anything at all amiss about the process.

It's easy to shout. Much less easy to speak with conviction and knowledge.

Yes you have missed the Point.

It's the endemic lack of respect for Councillor's and the constant abuse of those who are not prepared to stand for it, that's the point.
The complaint about Phil Fowlie was nonsense. A contrivance of misrepresentation of the Freedom of the Information Act.
The Council itself has done much worse. As a someone from the Council you should know that.

Thank you for removing the disgraceful post at 11.01 which resulted from my not taking part in this lovefest
It was only right that you also removed my putdown shortly after.

Oooh! You've blown my cover! OK, I work for the Legal Department; we all have to make a living somehow!

Lack of respect for Councillors? Nah, the more I learn, the more I see that the problems in Llangefni are endemically cultural, not down to one category of people. Since the 'Recovery' Board took over, I've actually more respect for Councillors than I ever had. Apart from one or two. They know who they are, and don't like railways much.
