Open letter to the Daily Post's Letters Editor

Dear Editor of the Daily Post Letters Page,

Please stop printing endless letters from people with no obvious economic credentials, telling us that the coalition's 'cuts' are are too fast and too deep. I am quite capable of reading The Guardian's reporting on the coalition's macroeconomic policies at first hand -- without having to re-read them several days later when recycled by a councillor from Ceredigion or some guy from Licswm, Flintshire.

Yours faithfully,
A. Druid

But what if they're genuine comments by members of society?

Anon 19:02 - To clarify I have no complaint at all with comment and opinion. Its all the cod-economics which is becoming dreary.

The reporter guy from Holyhead Mail seems a bit lefty (or his editor) who prefers pro Plaid rantings.

Druid, calm down dear, its not that serious......and you've used a 2nd class stamp !
Joking !

I think we have to accept that as part of a free society people have a right to express their views even if they have little or no expertise in that subject area

The Daily Post writes for the Lost Mountain Sheep parties, its little wonder were we are now with such lost sheep propaganda. Keep up the good work Druid with some proper reporting of true facts. I ask the Daily Post to print the Druid's Blogs ??

Hear, hear. Keep it up Druid. Your one of the very few with the sense to tell it as it is without fear or favour.

I think you may find that the letter you sent will carry a surcharge. you appear to have used an old Pre- used stamp date stamped, 27th November 1990.

I lived in Oldham many years ago at the time of the so-called 'race riots' and the extreme agittation of the BNP and it's street-levelfoot soldiers such as C18.

I was part of the anti-BNP 'collective' and we were active every single day for over 3 years. We soon sussed-out' how to get letters published (biggest selling paper in Oldham is the Chronicle - publishes every day mon-fri). 3 of us dealt with that and we had at least one letter published every single day for over two years.

Getting pressure letters published isn't hard - it's just a case of knowing how to use the system.

"one of the very few with the sense to tell it as it is without fear or favour."

And without political bias? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Quite often before attacking the boiled egg with my soliders; prepared perfectly as always by her who must be obeyed, I read the letters section of the newspaper.  Why oh why does the letters editor print such letters I often ask, especially thoose who quite clearly have not had the benefit of the education I was privilaged to receive.  And then I remember the advise of my Uncle.

“They do it on purpose, you know, when they need more letters, one contreversial letters, especially from a self important Councillor will genereate many letters in response from disgusted of, and the letters cost them nothing”

Of course as my wife reminds me often the quality of the letter reflects the quality of the rag, and I of course read the broadsheets, but do ask for the Sun occasionally, for the sport of course, always the sport.

Changing the subject, for those yet to be convinced of the need for a good broadband connection, and the Internet’s contribution to the economy, I suggest you read the following report:

since Mark Brittain left, the Daily Post has become the daily past. Some of the stories don't even have the who where when why and how in the first paragraph. I was taught that it was essential in written journalism. There again that was when journalism was journalism. The net is our only hope for exposive journo's today.
Mind you bloggers are also disappearing at a scary rate. Hang on in there Druid:) Question-would you still write if you were named?

Dear Daily Post.

I hope I'm not dead when I read the obituaries, nor am I to be wed, when I read the forthcoming engagements and wedding announcements, but the best read of all, is the film review. The latest is Carry on Council, with Sid James as Clive and Hattie Jacques as Bowles, you have to admit, it's funny the goings on, it's a good plot, loads of scandal, piss taking and an excuse to fill your letters page on the way they live, and the way they destroy the people of Anglesey.
