Welsh humour?

Anonymous - I think you'll find there's no such thing.

RS, How can you possibly say we have no sense of humour when that was filmed in Rhostrewfa?

Answers on a postcard please. Should be plenty of nice ones in your holiday home amongst the unfinished one that reads:

My Dearest Aunt,

Weather absolutely fabulous and the scenery is superb. Though, I do have to admit the locals are rude and sometimes attempt to communicate in that ridiculous language of theirs which does confuse one slightly.

ANDREW: You eloquently prove my point.
.....By the way did you, by any chance, mean Rhostrehwfa?

Rhys Williams said...

Hello Richard, do you also mean Rhostrehwfa the home of Tafarn yr Rhos, see http://www.tafarnyrhos.co.uk/ the best pub on the island.

Now I dare you to go there when it's busy and declare that us welsh have no sense of humour.

A bed at Ysbyty Gwynedd is already on standby.

Alex, to my mind 'the Welsh' don't have much of a sense of humour, to smile or laugh is just not a very Welsh characteristic.

On the other hand, when you put on your British hat, normally when travelling, your sense of humour improves no end.

Strange but very true.

Rhostrehwfa? Isn't that the place with the Anglesey version of a leisure centre - two sheep tied to a lampost?

'A bed at Ysbyty Gwynedd is already on standby' .......

I doubt it, it'll more than likely be on strike!

A bed in YG is out of the question, they are already taken up by geriatric middle-class English who managed to escape the inner-city slums and retire to North Wales.

kp said...

Andrew, at least these 'middle-class English' will have paid a lifetime of taxes and other dues.

As such, no-one has any right to complain about this particular group of retirees.

Andrew said...

Like I said earlier, only those with well paid jobs escaped the Rat Race and made it to North Wales and those who made serious money moved to the Isle of Man and not the Isle of Anglesey.

Andrew, you seem to be a well balanced individual - with a chip on both shoulders......

Anyone know what has happened to the photon blog

http://photonicanglesey.blogspot.com/

Is says its being taken down?

A real shame it was the best anglesey blog imo.

Anon 16:30, he probably didn't like my last post. Fear not, I suspect everything will be fine again in a day or two.

ICE COLD IN ALEX: "TAFARN YR RHOS" (SIC)
Do you, by any chance, mean "Tafarn y Rhos"? (Check the sign next time you are there).

However your threat of a bed reservation at Ysbyty Gwynedd is - without a doubt - the ultimate deterrent.

Rhys Williams said...

Richard - stupid me, you are quite corrrect one to many r's and I know where it is, it has a sign in welsh above the doors. After all Rhos Pub would be a silly name.

As for Ysbyty Gwynedd sadly you may be right.

"one too many r's..."

He was bailed for thrashing out and the judge at Haydock Magistrates remarked this was the last straw and bound him over for a year.

His excuse was boredom. He claimed two Englishmen kidnapped his sheep tied to a lamp post outside Tafarn y Rhos. Both were middle-aged and driving an S-Class Mercedes Benz with a private plate "RS"

I spent some time looking at those offered after this one. Hilarious. There was one of an old drunk 'drinking' from a breathyliser whilst the cop was howling with laughter. Also of a drunk in a small room in a copshop who leaned over to pick something off the floor and fell into the wall causing a big dent in the plaster. The right-on crowd nowadays would believe that he had been beaten up!
