Revealed: Albert Owen's "Pledge Card" to Anglesey voters

The Daily Post is reporting that Ynys Môn MP, Albert Owen, was joined by Welsh Assembly Government Leader, Carwyn Jones AM, yesterday in Menai Bridge to launch Labour's general election "pledge card" to Anglesey voters.

Two things confuse me about this story:

  • As far as I'm aware the General Election hasn't even been called yet
  • How did Carwyn Jones get up to North Wales now that the North-South Airlink is no longer flying? Very curious...

Anyway, see that pledge card Albert is waving around in his hand? Well, the Druid pulled a few strings and managed to obtain the very one that Albert is brandishing in this photo. And, just for you, Dear Reader, here it is:

UPDATE: Oscar is making some very interesting claims about Albert Owen's travel between Anglesey and Westminster here.

Anon - Dim gobaith i neb efo'r Llafur (a Plaid).

Anon - Thats solves one mystery. Also nice to hear that at least one of our politicians knows what its like to drive up and down the A470...

I have to say, on Albert Owen's behalf that he has done splendidly in helping pensioners in long disputes with the Pensions Service and in getting grants to install heating for private tenants whose landlords were having trouble with electrical and gas suppliers
As for the airlink - isn't there a slightly improved rail link now? And wouldn't it have been betetr to spend money on further improvong that rather than on an air link that even Anglesey residents had difficulty in acessing?

Hi Rhiannon - its certainly to Albert's credit if he has been helping pensioners and private tenants in the way you described. He used to work in the Citizens Advice Bureau in Holyhead before becoming an MP so he obviously has some experience and competence in resolving such issues. However, that alone is not a good reason to elect him as an MP...

As for your comments on the air-link: 100% agree!

Not alone, no - but I'm sure that it was his position as AM that caused him to succeed where the CAB almost disastrously failed.
Interesting - I had no idea that he had that background

Oops! That would be MP!
My bedtime, methinks!

I can't find that account of the menai Bridge meeting - I've googled Daily Post and Albert Owen and Menai Bridge to no avail

Rhiannon - Yes, I tried to link to it too but the Daily Post hasn't put the story online for some reason. Thats partly why I included a scan of the Daily Post story. Click on it and you can read the text.
