++ Commissioners pay confirmed ++

Earlier this week when asked by Anglesey's Councillors to reveal how much they are being paid, our new Commissioners refused to answer. I can now confirm that they will be paid £500 a day for their troubles.

You're not 'confirming' anything, this has been widely known for a while now Paul.

No it hasn't.

Each? Who's picking up the tab?

Assumedly Anglesey rate payers will not be expected to cover such.

Or, if so, then existing payments to all councillors will be terminated forthwith.

KP.
YOUR TO RIDICULES FOR WORDS

And you, young man (Anon 16:20) need to go back to school and learn some English spelling and grammar.

Yet another product of our fantastic Welsh education system!

Ha ha! What a total disgrace. We could have put together a bunch of men and women from Anglesey with proven business experience to undertake this function for free - for the benefit of Anglesey; I'm sure there would be plenty who would come forward.

When on earth will this all come to an end?

And how much does their air fair cost per day? £100, plus taxi either side, plus meals, plus cuddly toy allowance...

An Eye On... said...

I bet I can make just as much of a BLX as them and I'm willing to do it for considerably less - £500 a week and no expenses. Can't be any fairer than that.

LIKE I SAID KP.

Your to ridiculous for words.
If spelling and grammar is all we have to worry about we must be in very good shape.

How were these chosen commissioners given their jobs?

Were the jobs advertised? If so, how many applicants were there? If not, why not?

Did due process take place or were these commissioners given the jobs on a nod and a wink?

We need answers to these questions and many more, quickly.

The pay is well deserved, the antics created by the monkeys that ran the zoo, will take a generation to make good. Trust, honesty and integrity are all things the commissioners are trying to ressurect here on Anglesey. Remember, without the commissioners we would be still adrift on a swamp of drivel and filth, now at last, we are having a clear out.

What would you prefer? The same old faces fighting to be the first in the trough? Or a new sheriff(s) in town?

Insider said...

Who cares?
No matter who or in what way the council is been run matters not one jot, providing our services are been run well. Which they are.

The bullshit pumped out by Bowles and Co, is nothing to do with Members behavior, its all about paving the way for amalgamation with Gwynedd and the sooner we all understand that the better.

Anonymous said...

New sheriff(s) of course, but why do we have to continue paying for the 'same old faces'?

Anonymous said...

New sheriff(s) indeed?

Look at their history and the council's they come from.
Talk about Cover up Merchants?

Let's get the details out about these con-issioners?

Anonymous said...

Unelected, obtained their jobs with out proper due process and not shown to be capable.
Just look at past Reports.

Anonymous said...

we have named these con-issioners, let's shame them into action!

You all appear in awe of these Commissioners, now we know that most decisions made on this Island involved a lot of arse licking, do you think that these Commissioners will do nothing till their arse get licked! Get reat, get on top of them, before they start thinking there's nothing wrong up here!

The appalling failure of Alex Aldridge to understand and recognize the abuse suffered by a former Flintshire County Council auditor says it all.

In a reply to the judgement given in favor of the auditor, all Alex Aldridge could say was

"We are disappointed by the result and we will be studying the judgement carefully when we receive it"

This came after the auditor had been prevented from accessing vital documents whist investigating alleged council fraud (Sounds very familiar). It was also said that "Officers had covered up four cases of alleged council fraud.

Is this jobs for the Labour Boys on a nod and a wink really the best Carl Sargeant can do?

Carl Sargeant is fully aware that maladministration within IoACC may have manifested into fraudulent conduct by Officers and Councillor's.

"Lets get the details out about these con-issioners".

"One of the commissioners Alex Aldridge, certainly has plenty of experience of fraud allegations, audit investigations and peculiar practices. Under his leadership a decade ago, Labour-controlled Flintshire county council became a stalwart of Rotten Boroughs. Over a five year period more than 200 council staff were suspended while under investigation. Andy Sutton, the internal auditor, was sacked when he raised questions about practices at the council. In his successful employment tribunal case he detailed 38 separate public-interest issues".

"Aldridge clung on, even though one report from PricewaterhouseCoopers found that the housing maintenance department did not concern itself with trifles such as tendering for contracts, invoices etc. Aldridge himself paid council workmen in cash for a variety of jobs at his home, including electrical work, decorating, security lighting, artexing of ceilings and installing a new fire and boiler, with out any receipts"

"So now "Dodgy Boiler" Aldridge is going to show Anglesey Councillors how to run things properly. No better man!"

A plea to Carl Sargeant.

Please remove Alex Aldridge as one of your commissioner before you and he makes Anglesey a bigger laughing stock than it already is.

For gods sake man, use some savvy for once. Don't you think the Assembly has done enough damage to Anglesey's reputation by sending us a lunatic like Bowles in the first place? No more jobs for your boys .

Groundhog Day said...

There is no way that Sargeant will remove Aldridge, he is one of Carl's mates and was a singnatory to proposing Sargeant as an AM candidate. Nepotism is alive and well and thriving in the Senedd and in Flitshire. Is there no way of appealing against what is plain "jobs for my mates" and having a proper selection of commissioners?

My apologies for the typos in my previous post, I have fingers like pigs' tits today.

Surprise, Surprise.

The Nomination Papers for this forth coming election are NOT, I repeat, Not open to public inspection, only the other candidates and their agents are allowed access.

As for the Nomination Papers for the last Welsh Assembly Elections, they are only kept for 12 months and no longer exist?

Photon said...

"only the other candidates and their agents are allowed access"

I'm sure Paul can ask the Tory candidate in the appropriate area to exercise their right to examine the papers, then! Shouldn't be too difficult to get to the bottom of this...

Anonymous said...

Good Idea Photon, but what about the Nomination papers for the Last election? Does anyone still have a copy of those?

Prometheuswrites said...

I notice that the appointment of these Commissioners has coincided with the dissolution of the Assembly, so no further questions can be asked till the Senned reconvenes in May.

I also remember the look on Mark Isherwood's face at the Senned meeting when Carl Sergeant announced who the first commissioners were to be and then refused to directly answer Mr Isherwood's question about the appointment of Mr Aldridge.

One suspects that Mr Sergeant is hoping Mr Isherwood won't be re-elected, so that he won't raise such awkward questions again in the Senned.

If this is how Carl Sargent thinks about the recovery of Anglesey County Council, it only goes to show that there is another agenda, and its nothing to do with recovery.

Maybe the voters of Flintshire would like to know the kind of People he supports and gives jobs to on a nod and a wink. It may even cost him the Election?

It's a good idea, but Paul will have to be quick: the nomination papers can only be examined until the end of the nomination period - which is on April 4th.

According to the electoral commission, nomination papers can be destroyed after 12 months, which seems an odd system in this day of information freedom.

He's an interesting man, Mark Isherwood, he has become a thorn in the side of the assembly, I just wish I knew how to contact him, am I allowed to even though he is from another district??

Photon said...

"I just wish I knew how to contact him, am I allowed to even though he is from another district??"

Mark has held frequent surgeries on Anglesey in Llangefni library. So you have eveyry right to take matters to him. He has an address at the Assembly you can contact him on - see the WAG web site.

COMMISSIONER: Be quiet! I order you to be quiet!

WOMAN: Order, eh? Who does he think he is? Heh.

COMMISSIONER: I am your commissioner!

WOMAN: Well, I didn't vote for you.

COMMISSIONER: You don't vote for commissioners.

WOMAN: Well, how did you become commissioner then?

COMMISSIONER: The Laddy of the Lake (The Minister) ,...

[angels sing]

...his arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibre (My Executive Order) from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I, A...., was to carry Excalibre.

[singing stops]

That is why I am your commissioner!

ANGLESONION: Listen, strange ministers lying in ponds distributing contracts is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical Assembly ceremony.

COMMISSIONER: Be quiet!

ANGLESONION: Well, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some minister threw a contract at you!

COMMISSIONER: Shut up!

ANGLESONION: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just because some moistened blogger had lobbed a comment at me, they'd put me away!

COMMISSIONER: Shut up, will you. Shut up!

ANGLESONION: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system.

ARTHUR: Shut up!

ANGLESONION: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help! I'm being repressed!

COMMISSIONER: Bloody peasant!

...

COMMISSIONER: Who is your lord?

WOMAN: We don't have a lord.

COMMISSIONER: What?

COUNCILLOR: I told you. We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week.
