Going... going... gone? (Updated)

Only Gordon Brown could have engineered the circumstances in which he would have to resign twice on two consecutive days...

UPDATE: Brown's final speech outside of 10 Downing Street just provided the quote of Brown's premiership:

"In the event that the Queen accepts [my resignation]..."

Huh?

So, the end of an era, the end of socialism in Britain, now the hard work starts, the beginning of a new dawn, or the beginning of a dark period, of public funding cuts, the rise in unemployment and the reality that the cupboard is indeed bare.

Where do we go from here? that is the question, because we are all going to have to pay the costs now, the bank bailouts and the drain on the public purse by the illegal war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the biggest public cut will be the funding that the Welsh Assembly receives, this will be slashed, so please say goodbye to everything you have had for nothing, that gravy train has now come off the rails and slammed into the buffers, the same as the Welsh economy will do, tomorrow.

Good Riddance. The sad thing is that Cameron has had to do a deal with the Lib-Dems a party they have little in common with and I suspect that there will be another election in 6-9 months to secure a Conservative majority. It is going to be tough but the whole of the UK needs a good shake up as it did at the end of the 70's. We need to become more productive and more inventive as a country and live within our means and not on state handouts.

Scroungers beware for the days of signing up for every benefit will be ending soon, the days of unmarried mothers bringing up different kids by different dads and expecting to be housed and the state to pick up the bill will be over soon.

The days of scrounging and taking are over, and for once I am happy.

The whole revenue from the North Sea Oil Production, every last penny has been wasted on the Benefits for the scroungers, it's time for them to get off the state and find work, or given work, any job, be it picking papers on the side of the road, to doing any community work, anything to pay back the money they have taken from the state.

Cameron knows that they can work, but they won't, Cameron knows who the scroungers and benfit bums are, I hope he listens to the people who have worked all their lives to prop up a lazy workshy generation.

I wish David Cameron well, I felt his speech before he entered No 10 Downing Street very dignified. It's a shame that others cannot follow his example.

So much for that wise old sage, Peter Hain, who called on Labour supporters in certain marginals to vote Lib/Dem to keep the Tories out. That really worked well like most Labour ideas! Seems to have forgotten that it was the emergence of Labour that wiped out the Whigs as a major force in British politics. Revenge is indeed sweet though how this alliance of former combatants will work remains to be seen. Fingers crossed, heh?

And, of course, goodbye to the Liberal Democrat party. A centre left party in coalition with a right wing eurosceptic anti PR party. LIBDEMS will desert to Labour in millions and Clegg will be chewed up and spat out by the Cons. Interesting times.

At least the pretender has gone - has there been an unelected leader before in the UK?

That's a tricky question as tricky as your name I only wish I had a crystal ball to see what they were shredding since last Thursday.

Well you never know, Anon 11:14, if this centre alliance works it may just be the death knoll of Labour. Mind you, they will be so busy for a while blaming each other for what went wrong and then various individuals vying for the leadership that they have plenty to occupy them. I feel a bit sorry for David Milliband if he gets the top job for with the likes of Mandy, Balls, Campbell, Prescott, Harman, not to mention brother, hovering around it will be a bit like Caesar on the steps of the Rome Senate. "Et tu, Ed," and all that, what?

To Gont Sais Cochyn

We do not elect the Prime Minister directly, nor the government. We elect a member of parliament for our constituency.

The Queen (god bless here) appoints the Prime Minster and the Government. And based on the system who currently have the government does not necessarily mean the party with the largest popular vote. As the conservatives nearly found out.

Maybe we should have a republic, and a directly appointed president, but hold on even then the Prime Minster would not be directly elected by us, but appointed by the President.

Apologies for grammar in previous comment should have said I think
